Adult Day Services is a system of professionally delivered, integrated, home- and community-based, therapeutic, social and health-related services provided to individuals to sustain living within the community.

Adult Day Revitalization Initiative

The restoration of Adult Day services will make this valuable care option available to more Ohioans.

Services commonly provided by Adult Day locations can include recreational and educational programming, meals, health monitoring, skilled therapy, and transportation. In addition to being more cost-effective than institutional long-term care settings, benefits of Adult Day include increased social engagement, improved overall physical and mental health, early detection of health issues, family support, caregiver respite, and more.

The revitalization effort will also create job opportunities in the healthcare and support industries, thereby stimulating local economies.

All qualified organizations seeking to become Adult Day providers, as well as existing Adult Day providers seeking to expand their services, were eligible to apply for the available grant funds.

The Ohio Department of Aging has made over $6 million in ARPA grant funding available for providers to revitalize Adult Day services across the state.

Though it is now closed, you can click here to access the application portal and view the funding opportunity for reference. Providers selected for funding were announced in March 2024.

This funding opportunity was designed to assist in revitalizing Adult Day services in three key areas:

• Encouraging new providers to join and previous providers to return to the Adult Day industry.

• Supporting existing Adult Day providers in expanding their service capabilities for long-term sustainability.

• Enhancing recruitment and retention of employees dedicated to Adult Day services.
